2022 Handshake Series Schuele Chardonnay
The Schuele Chardonnay is part of our Handshake Series. This is a series of small lots of wine from local grape growers that share the same values as Honsberger Estate: family, friends, hard work, and quality. The Schuele family vineyard is part of the Lincoln Lakeshore Appellation. This Chardonnay is hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, and the juice is left to settle for a few days. After racking, the juice is moved to neutral French oak barrels to undergo wild fermentation, both primary and secondary. Left on lees for 18 months, this Chardonnay has a great mid-palate mouthfeel. The 2022 has a nose of grilled pineapple, peach, and lemon. The mid palate is rich and smooth with good structure. The weight of the midpalate is balanced by acidity and a finish with a hint of hazelnut.
